Grenada Sailing Week – A Caribbean Regatta Not to Miss!

2014 is the year for new and exciting races, venues, and lay day entertainment. The organizers of Grenada Sailing Week are going all out with a fantastic line up to keep racers busy from the moment the first warning signal blares out.

After spending Thursday race training on Chao Lay and attending the welcome party, everyone will be raring to go for the opening race on Friday. Remember that no prior racing experience is necessary. You just have to have the need for speed, a big smile, and the determination for a team win!

Friday brings exciting race courses around Grand Anse, on the west coast of Grenada. The day is brought to an jubilant end with the iconic Mount Gay Red Cap Party at Port Louis! Plenty of fun (and plenty of rum!)

On Saturday, the races take us round Point Saline to La Phare Bleu Marina. Promising thrilling sailing conditions and lots of action. At night, go ashore to The Deck Bar for the Pirate Party, but beware you may have to walk the plank if you don’t go suitably attired! Arrrgh!

Grenada Bluewater Sailing - Caribbean RYA Sailing SchoolSunday is Lay Day – you have the choice of relaxing on board Chao Lay or joining in with the organized activities. Fun hobie cat match racing has been organized by the Petite Calivigny Yacht Club, off the Le Phare Bleu dock. In the afternoon, get yourself down to the dinghy concert in the bay; live music and a bar on a barge – rock around the clock with great local and international music!

Monday brings competitors back along the south coast with rip-roaring race courses. The second race finishes in Prickly Bay (and coincidently that’s where the party is too – perfect!)

Tuesday is the final day of Grenada Sailing Week – giving even more reason to race your heart out on the Grenada Bluewater Sailing team. Racing takes place on the turbulent Atlantic coast, so be ready for a thrilling day on the water. The final dinner and prestigious prize giving party is at the Tiki Bar, Prickly Bay Marina. Fingers crossed for some team prizes!!
